Ex-YNGWIE Singer EDMAN Joins Forces With Swedish Guitarist In GEFF

April 27, 2006

According to a posting at www.goranedman.net, vocalist Göran Edman (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, GLORY) has joined forces with Swedish guitarist Ralf Jedestedt in a new project called GEFF. The group's current lineup, which sees Jedestedt handling all the music and Edman taking care of the lyrics and vocal arrangements, includes drummer Anders Johansson (HAMMERFALL, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and bassist Pär Stadin (ex-SILVER MOUNTAIN, SNAKE CHARMER). Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and Richard Andersson will likely have guest appearances on the album, while Pär will also do the mix and take care of the technical details. The CD includes 10 songs, but the Japanese market will have an additional bonus track. Plans are to release the album during the fall, perhaps even sooner. Ralf describes the music as "some '80s and some YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, and also a little grunge." Göran said, "It is more kind of rock-oriented music, but I have managed to add some odd elements into my arrangements anyhow... Squeezed them in, so to speak..." More information will be made available soon.
